This
type of equipment is best handled with job specific tools, such as friction
free skates, air suspended transport vehicles, computer 'cages', and custom
designed gantry systems. Fragile Equipment needs to be handled with extra
care and diligence.
Much of this equipment consists of delicate circuit boards often encased
in a fairly sturdy frame which has been covered with flimsy plastic or sheet
metal panels. Various switches, knobs and other fragile objects may protrude
out from the panels. All this must be carefully packed.
Great care is needed in lifting and securing these items onto a transport
vehicle, so as to not crease the panels and/or break any switches etc.
This equipment, because of its fragility, often takes longer to move than
much heavier, bulkier machines.
